STARBURST MINIATURE HEREFORDS – FIRST IN THEIR CLASS

STARBURST MINI GINGER – FIRST IN JUNIOR COW CLASS VCS

Starburst Herefords has placed first in both the Junior Bull and Junior Cow class, with stiff competition from around the world, in the second annual 2012 Virtual Cattle Show for Miniature Herefords, held by the Australian Miniature Hereford Breeders Network.  We are delighted with this honor as these two animals are foundation stock for our UK herd, having produced their first offspring together in June 2012.

Miniature Herefords, bred by Andrew and Marie Bayliss of Starburst Herefords and Shorthorns, were displayed in a pen at the Turriff show, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland,  in August, 2012.   Mini Ginger and Mini Goldrush, as well as  their offspring,  Starburst Joker, who was born in Scotland in June, was introduced to the public at the Scottish National Hereford Show.  The local paper picked up the news and produced a picture of mother and son in a center fold of show highlights.  Joker made a real hit with the kids.  It is believed this is the first time Miniature Herefords have been on display, in the UK.   They are all registered with the Hereford Cattle Society and have proven to be very popular as people realize the multitude of  benefits of the smaller Hereford genetics and their ability to perform as efficient back yard beef producers on smaller holdings, while still having all the traits that made Herefords popular in the past.

July, 2012 – Starburst Herefords sells entire Miniature Hereford Embryo Inventory

Malcolm & Leslie Gough of Chater Valley, Leicestershire, UK

Malcolm & Leslie Gough of Chater Valley, in Leicestershire, England have secured a substantial supply of top Starburst Ranch Miniature Hereford embryos representing almost 20 years of breeding and storing a wide variety of  bloodlines in the Miniature Hereford genetic pool.  This purchase  secures their position  in the UK market as a leading supplier of Miniature Herefords.  This embryo purchase comes on the heels of implanting  a previous number of Starburst embryos over the past few years and propels them well forward in their breeding program.  Although Starburst Herefords will breed a small number of Miniature Herefords in the UK by natural methods and still stocks a wide diversity of frozen semen, Chater Valley, will definitely be a major force in supplying the UK with these delightful animals, which can now be found in many countries around the world.  We wish you all the best in your endeavor.
